Booker T. Jones is a celebrated American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and arranger, best known for his role as the leader of Booker T. & the M.G.'s, a pivotal soul music group from the 1960s. Booker T. & the M.G.'s served as the house band for Stax Records, a legendary record label in Memphis, Tennessee.


As a result, Booker T. Jones and his bandmates played on numerous classic soul records, backing artists like Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, and Wilson Pickett, among others.


Jones is most famous for his skills on the Hammond organ, and his band's instrumental hit "Green Onions" is one of the most recognizable songs in the genre. In addition to his work with Booker T. & the M.G.'s, Jones has had a successful solo career and has collaborated with many other artists over the years. He is regarded as a key figure in the development of soul and R&B music and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Booker T. & the M.G.'s.
